What is Samo + Company?

Samo is a happy-go-lucky guy who happens to have Down syndrome. Samo + Company is a jewelry company that originated when Samo’s family was playing around with scientific paint and making some incredibly cool jewelry for fun. Samo particularly enjoyed making the wearable art and watching the chemical reactions of the painting process. He's proven the messier you are, the more beautiful the outcome!

That gave Greta (aka Mamo as Samo calls her) the idea to develop a jewelry company which employs (with a little supervision) individuals with Down syndrome. She recognized the difficulties that Samo and friends would face as they try to enter the workforce someday.The roles in the company will be as varied as the individuals which will include making the jewelry, modeling, fulfillment, website/social media management, selling at fairs/markets and all other miscellaneous duties. The company will accommodate the unique talents and contributions of each employee. It is a workplace where individuals with Down syndrome roll up their sleeves and get to work.

What makes our jewelry unique?

Our jewelry uses scientific artistry which incorporates special effect pigments that chemically react, causing the design and colors to continually change and evolve while it dries over 72 hours. So, what we apply looks nothing like the finished product. We’ve developed some lines of jewelry specific for Down syndrome and Autism, but we also offer a wide arrange of beautiful jewelry for any occasion.

Down Syndrome Awareness

We honor those with Down syndrome by naming each piece in this collection after someone with Down syndrome. Here’s an explanation of what each unique design of this collection means:

• Blue and yellow are the colors of Down syndrome.

• The number ‘21’ represents people with Down syndrome who have three copies of their 21st chromosome.

• The three upward chevrons represent ‘The Lucky Few’ people who are blessed to have someone with Down syndrome in their families or in their lives.
